The Journal of Human Science & Technology is an interdisciplinary, online scholarly journal examining how science and technology measure, explain, and affect human life.
Why we exist
Human questions do not remain inside disciplines.
A physiological signal may be captured by a sensor, interpreted by an algorithm, delivered through a clinical system, and acted upon by a person. Each stage brings a different discipline—and each transition can change the meaning of the evidence.
JHST provides a rigorous meeting place for human biology, measurement, engineering, computation, ethics, and lived consequence. We publish work that defines its biological question clearly, validates the connection between signal and meaning, and remains accountable to the human being the technology is intended to serve.
Aims & scope
Where human science and technology meet.
The journal welcomes scholarship that advances understanding within a field and work that carefully translates evidence across fields. The unifying requirement is a serious account of the human phenomenon being studied.
Editorial standard
Claims should remain proportionate to evidence.
JHST distinguishes what was directly measured from what was inferred, predicted, or interpreted. Methods, reference standards, uncertainty, limitations, and competing explanations should be stated plainly.
Clear constructs
Define the biological or human phenomenon before selecting the proxy used to represent it.
Validated meaning
Demonstrate that a signal changes faithfully with the physiology or condition it claims to measure.
Transparent status
Identify article type and review status so readers know which editorial standard was applied.
Human relevance
Evaluate technical performance through its actual consequence for people, not novelty alone.
Publishing model
Online publication with quarterly issues.
JHST publishes four issues each year. Articles may appear online before final issue assembly, and article type and review status are displayed on each work. Founding editorials and perspectives are not represented as externally peer-reviewed research.
The five founding articles constitute Volume 1, Issue 1 (2026). The journal’s ISSN is pending, and permanent article identifiers will be added as registration becomes available.
